Hello. Long time. Is this still on?

Today this bread was baked in the oven. I baked it while avoiding my social media feeds. It didn't show much promise during the slow rise, but its metamorphosis in the oven was magical. This lovely multi-grain sourdough loaf with dramatic upturned peaks has a light crispy skin that crackles when squeezed. It's so satisfying to cradle a warm loaf and listen to the response when pressure is applied. Pop pop pop! Steam escapes through those crevices in the top and a warm sweet sour smell of fermented wheat heats the inside of my nose. There is a slight waft of roasted sesame. A small moment of respite. Ah, Ok. Yes. Small victories.

Now back to the digital onslaught.

Below pics of today's first test meal and the logistics of shopping for ingredients. the project will happen next weekend which just happens to be the pentecost holiday weekend and all the shops will be closed (whaaa?!?! who does that anymore??!)  we will have to do a little bit of advanced planning.
